Department of Physiology

The Department of Physiology is one of the most important basic medical science departments in the College of Medicine and other health colleges, including Dentistry, Pharmacy, Applied Medical Sciences, and Nursing. Teaching physiology courses in these colleges represents a fundamental pillar upon which medical knowledge is built.

Physiology is a science that studies the functions of thedifferent human body’s organs in the normal state, the mechanisms that regulate these functions, and how they integrate and harmonize with one another. It also explores the processes that maintain these functions within normal physiological ranges, which is essential for maintaining optimal health.

Physiology is taught through both theoretical and practical sessions across all relevant programs in the College of Medicine and the health colleges. This approach equips students with a solid foundation that supports their future competent learning in medical and other health disciplines.
