About The Department
The Department of Anatomy at the College of Medicine, Najran University, was established in the College of Medicine since its inception in the year 1429 H corresponding to 2008 GC. The girls' section, construction of the department began in the temporary building in the Al-Athaibah area in Najran city, and is currently in the temporary headquarters of the female health colleges in the College of Administrative Sciences building. The department has a sufficient number of laboratories (dissection rooms - a refrigerator room for preserving autopsy cadavers - histology laboratories - a museum for manufactured anatomical models). There is also a plasticizing laboratory in the male section.
Courses of the Anatomy Aepartment:
1- Human Anatomy.
2- Embryology and birth defects.
3- General and special histology.
Educational objectives of the Anatomy Department:
The department aims to make the student:
- Able to understand and use anatomical terminology correctly.
- Knowledges about the detailed surface and internal anatomy of the human body.
- Knowing the exact composition of the different organs and tissues of the body.
- Knowing the human embryonic normal development processes, the congenital anomalies that could occur, and introducing its clinical features.
- Involving the student in the practical anatomy by studying of pre-dissected specimens by the department members, as well as by demonstration of samples in the department's museum.
- In addition, faculty members conduct medical research and publish it in relevant scientific journals and conferences.
