About Us

Introduction: The Department of Pathology is one of the departments concerned with teaching the basic concepts leading to the emergence of diseases - pathological causes, pathological mechanisms, and how they occur - and is also concerned with observing pathological changes - pathological manifestations that lead to the emergence of these diseases. In addition to the basic knowledge in preparing the future doctor. The department teaches students of the Faculty of Medicine in both Boys and Girls section and the Faculty of Pharmacy, Nursing, and Dentistry.

Vision: Teaching pathology using modern educational methods and the active participation of the department in scientific research and community services.

Mission: Actively the department contribute to the preparation of distinguished medical and academic cadres to enable them to compete in the labor market

Goals

1. Developing educational methods that are full of creativity and innovation.

2. Contribute to preparing doctors who can serve in all medical fields.

3. Increasing research production within the Faculty of Medicine, in cooperation with other departments

4. Activating and improving community services

Duties of the staff members:

1- Teaching students the subject of pathology, theoretical and practical, according to the timetables prepared by the medical education Committee.

2-Execution of the determinedTBL session for each block

3- Execution of the determined PBL according to the given schedules

4- Setting of exams and monitoring grades on time

5- Participation in the scientific committees, in coordination with the other departments

6- Participation in community service

7- Participation in research

8- Participation in department meetings

Other Units linked to the pathology department

1- Haematology and Immunology: It specializes in teaching hematology and immunology for the Faculty of Medicine in the Boys and Girls sections.

2- Forensic Medicine and Toxicology: It specializes in teaching forensic medicine in the Boys’ section

Pathology Department Committees:  

1- The scientific committees of the blocks: the members of the department participate in the scientific committees of all the blocks distributed among the members of the department

2- The Block Teaching Coordination Committee: It is an internal committee that appoints one of the department members to teach the subject in the block being implemented. He also communicates with the block coordinator and is responsible for collecting questions for the mid-and final exams and making sure that they are reviewed internally, sending the question, and doing the evaluation

3- Examinations Review Committee: It is an internal committee specialized in the scientific review of all the theoretical and practical tests of the department and its approval before sending it to the coordinator of the block, which in turn is reviewed through the review committees assigned by the Medical Education Department, and there is a form to be filled out after each review.

4- Marks Monitoring and auditing Committee: It is an internal committee specialized in reviewing the results, monitoring, and revising grades for the mid-semester and final exam before being approved in the department and then sent for approval by the Dean.

5- Department’s Quality management Committee: It is a committee concerned with implementing quality requirements at the department’s level, and it communicates with the major Quality Committee when needed.

6- The department’s approval of results committee: it is a committee that includes all members of the department to discuss the results and approve them before sending them to the dean.
